Motion Graphics

Problem

Dan Smith, the narrator and author of this poem, is a Relapsing Polychondritis patient, our job was to faithfully represent his work visually.

Solution

We have found that when it comes to motion graphics, simpler is often better. With this in mind we decided to go with the hand drawn animation style, allowing the image to morph from one thought to the next. We felt that this did the best job of evoking the idea of “Only in My Dreams” while also grounding the animation in a tangible way.

Story always drives the creative decisions we make.

While motion graphics open endless visual possibilities, the story called for something more grounded, which served the end goal well.
